Pre-Enrollment - Step 1 of 6 Welcome to the rtGO Registered Traveler pre-enrollment site. Any U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident over the age of 18 can apply to become an rtGO Member, as can minors over the age of 12 with parental or guardian sponsorship. As part of the program, TSA will continually vet all members to ensure they maintain their eligibility status. You will remain eligible indefinitely unless a TSA review determines that you no longer meet the security assessment criteria. Like the rtGo Program, the enrollment process is designed to be easy and efficient. There are two steps to becoming an rtGO Member – the first is to collect your biographic data, which can be done either online or in person at an rtGO Program Enrollment Location. The second step is to verify your identification and capture fingerprint and iris images, which must be done in person at an rtGO Program Enrollment Location. TSA requires the rtGo Program to collect a defined set of biographic information from each applicant in order to perform a security background check. To expedite the enrollment process, we recommend you start by pre-enrolling your biographic data online. Once you complete the online pre-enrollment form, you will receive an online confirmation that includes your unique Registered Traveler rtGO number. If you prefer, you can submit your biographic information in person at an Enrollment Location. Completing the Enrollment Process To complete the enrollment process, you are required to visit one of the rtGO Program Enrollment Locations. There you will be asked to provide two valid forms of government identification (one with photo) to prove identity and citizenship. We will verify your identity and also capture biometric images of your fingerprints and irises. If you have previously entered your biographic information on the website, this takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. The rtGO Team then submits your biographic information to TSA, and approximately 8-10 days after submitting your application, you will receive email notification regarding your eligibility determination. If accepted, a smart card will be issued to you, enabling your participation in the national program. If declined, you will not be eligible to participate in the rtGO Program at that time. Since all eligibility determinations are made by TSA, no information will be given to the rtGO Team concerning the reasons for your ineligibility. All appeals and redress must be directed to TSA and the rtGO Team can assist you with that process if you choose to enlist our help. The rtGO Program offers a 24x7 call center (1-888-622-3924) to facilitate your application process and answer any questions. The annual rtGO Membership fee of $100 is due at enrollment and includes a TSA vetting fee. This vetting fee is required for all registered travelers for the security threat assessment performed by TSA. If your application is declined, your user fee will be refunded to you less the TSA vetting fee. Paperwork Reduction Act Statement of Public Burden
TSA requires a full legal name from RT Program applicants for the purpose of conducting a security threat assessment (STA). The following biographic information is also requested in order to positively identify the individual, eliminate false watch list matches, and to communicate with the individual in the event of a possible match: other names used, Social Security number, citizenship status, alien registration number, current home address, primary and secondary telephone numbers, current e-mail address, date of birth, place of birth, gender, height, previous home addresses, employer name, employer address and driver’s license number. TSA will use the applicants’ information for the following purposes: to pre-screen travelers by conducting STAs; to accept applicants who receive an approved STA finding; to expedite security screening at airport checkpoints for approved Registered Travelers by using advanced identification technologies, including biometrics; to assist in the management and tracking of STA results for RT applicants and RT participants; to permit the retrieval of STA results; and to refer to the appropriate intelligence and law enforcement entities the identity of RT applicants or RT participants who pose or are suspected of posing a threat to transportation or national security.
Participating Service Providers (SPs) may collect additional information from you for customer service purposes. The collection of excess data by SPs is neither required nor endorsed by TSA. The identifying information requested by TSA is a voluntary collection but failure to provide the requested biographic information may delay or prevent an "approved" determination of the security threat assessment necessary to join RT. TSA estimates that the total average burden per response associated with this collection is approximately 20 minutes. If you wish to comment on the accuracy of that estimate or submit suggestions for reducing the burden, you may write to TSA, Registered Traveler Program, 601 S. 12th St., Arlington, VA 22202-4220. An agency may not conduct or sponsor, and a person is not required to respond to, a collection of information unless it displays a valid OMB control number. The OMB control number assigned to this collection is 1652-0019, which expires 03/31/2009.
